Outdoor paint project

tom_nwnjMarch 2, 2014

Thinking today of projects other than moving snow.

I have a white cedar fence around the garden. It's approximately 4 foot high, 210 feet in perimeter. I painted it new with 7 gallons of a Latex, using a cheap Warner sprayer (that holds about one quart of paint). It took several days. That was 7 or 8 years ago.

The local Benny Moore dealer rents a sprayer for $80/day. Do you think that's the best way to paint this fence? I can slide 1/4" hardboard under the panels. There's a gap between the panels and pavers underneath.

Also, what is the best procedure for the slight greening on parts of the fence? Diluted clorox in a pump sprayer?

Thanks in advance?

The greening can be cleaned with a solution of water, dishwashing liquid, and bleach. Applied with pump sprayer, let set for a few minutes and wash down with water hose nozzle.

Not the easiest but the most economical way to paint the fence is brush & rollers. You loose a lot of paint by spraying it.
