How to remove plastic from hardboard placemats?

caflowerluverSeptember 17, 2012

I have paper placemats that are on hardboard with a cork backing. The plastic film is peeling in places. I would like to remove it all and put on a new protective plastic covering. But other than the pieces that have peeled off easily I can't figure out how to remove the rest. Does any one know how to do it without wrecking the paper print underneath?

Thanks.

Try applying oil so it will slowly slide out..
