help with fireplace room

idealessMarch 16, 2007

we just bought an older house. In the winter i spend alot of time reading in this room. Any ideas on making it a prettier and warmer room. Its too small to use as a living room so we use it as a sitting room. First home and am entirely clueless.

Any ideas are appreciated.

you're lucky to have a little reading room, imagine the fire on a cold day, and you watching the flames. I painted my fireplace with marine enamal, for wear and tear. Now I read you can just use satin sheen paint. I painted a white fireplace black and it makes a great focal point. Don't be scared to spend money on a good screen for the fireplace; it pay for itself in one year. cathy
