Is there a difference between drywall primer and plaster primer? I've got extra BM plaster primer and I have a new drywall wall that needs priming. Should I use my leftover plaster primer on the drywall?

We have blueboard up in our kitchen renovation and will be using Venetian Plaster. We ordered the plaster from Vasariplaster in OR after a bit of research. All the other plaster dealers had plaster primer for sale on their websites along with the plaster. Vasariplaster did not. So I called them and asked what they recommend. They said to take the blueboard to level 4 or 5 and then just use a normal drywall primer prior to application of the plaster. He said the other guys were just trying to make money by jacking up the price on a "speciality" primer that wasn't needed.

It's the opposite of your dilemma, but seems to me the plaster primer should work fine.
