Hide glue wallpaper paste

classicrunJune 22, 2008

I have been removing old wallpaper and have finally reached the final layer. The original wallpaper was put up using hide glue. I have scraped, used warm water, warm water with white vinegar. No matter what I do, there is still glue on the walls. Is there anything I haven't tried that might work, short of sanding which does seemed to work.

TSP and hot water.
Wear gloves, watch out for drips.

I found similar problems in my 1904 home. I removed, removed more, then sanded and sanded, until it was all off. It was worth it, but took days/more than a week.
Keep on going, it will be wonderful!

I have always used diff w/good results.
Also I believe kilz primer can be used over wallpaper glue. I was reading about it on their website and I think they mentioned this.

kilz is a nice product, It just smell sooooo bad!
