Space around island

sweetbeagsFebruary 10, 2013

I'm planning a kitchen renovation. With the dining room wall coming down, the room will be 13'9" wide by 32' long - consider it a wide galley kitchen. In total I'll have 78" of space to play with for the sides of the island.. With the fridge/ovens side as the main walk thru, should I break up the 78" with 36" on range/sink side (where I will be) and 42" on the fridge/oven side? Thanks for your interest in helping. I uploaded the floor plan and elevations on Houzz. Note: My apologies for the upside down images.

Also, the seats on the island will begin after the ovens and I'll have backless stools for ease of tuck in when not in use.
