Hurricane Ties

This one is for you, I'll try to keep it short. Any other manufacturers beside Simpson for "strong ties". Seems they manufacture everything but what I am looking for. I need embedded ties (concrete piers) for ribbon joists. Simpson lists embeds for 4x4(3.56 x 3.00) as compared to nominal 2x's doubled. The building inspector is a smart ass, I really want to get one over on him, I know he has no formal engineering training. His suggestion to me was to shim , my response was that method compromises the integrity of the prescribed fasteners. This is 8' x 24' shed, there was a 200 year event in Central Ma.(tornado) last summer so local codes changed. This site is located 3 miles from the briny.

Briny = ocean,I believe, because of water temp. tornado cannot develop, hurricane is a different story. We do have micro bursts that are extremely short and cause no where near the damage of tornado.Water temp right now 47degrees F.

Okay, it was the central MA that threw me off! Because of Irene, the code changed throughout the state ... is that correct? So your home isn't in central MA but it is affected by the new codes?

Sorry to stray off topic!
