Protecting original wallpaper during Reno

shadeyApril 2, 2014

Every wall in my 1948 cape cod is covered with original wallpaper. We are doing a lot of work and demo ... Starting next week.

There is one fabulous wallpaper in a main hallway that I want to preserve. how should I cover/protect it during the Reno? Therewill begins with sledgehammers, sanders, etc etc etc and this paper is right in the middle of it all!

How large are the wall areas?

You can tape plastic over it, then protect the plastic with that heavy paper used for floor protection. Mark on it "EXPENSIVE PAPER UNDER HERE! DO NOT TOUCHJ!"

Also, take a picture of what's under it and show to the workmen and let them know that it's definitely a priority to not mess with the vintage stuff.

Tape a protective edge over sheets of 1/4" luan plywood, lean them against the wall covering, and tape the bottom edge to the floor.
