Utility Carts

jillypieJanuary 9, 2007

I tried to do a search but did not come up with anything. Anyone know where I can purchase a utility or restaurant cart, fairly heavy duty, for transporting groceries etc. from garage to house.

Restaurant supply house? Office equipment store (might have to order from the catalog)?

I searched at Froogle.com (the shopping site connected to Google) and found tons.

I just used the words, "utility cart," no quotes even.

It's a pretty bulky thing; I'd hate to have to pay shipping--though, the one I found would only cost $15 or so for shipping!.

these guys on eBay charge $82, but their cart looks really tough w/ good wheels)

Both the ones I found were less than $100, though there are lot so fthem that are between $150 and $20025

I vote for looking in the Yellow Pages to find a restaurant-supply place, or a Janitorial-supply place, or a hospital-supply place. You'll want to enquire whether you'll need a resale number; some places only sell wholesale. (some of *those* places have offered to sell me stuff at the wholesale price if I paid cash)

You could also use a little red wagon! (if bending over and lifting isn't a big concern, anyway). Here's one that's labeled "utility cart," even if it is a wagon.

What exactly do you want? Would a garden cart work? Or do you want shelves? Do you want something that will work outside or just inside?

The Sam's Club website has a lot of different carts. I like the wagon idea, especially the one with the wooden sides, how cute and durable.

Are you looking for something like this??

I saw these in Walmart, under $20. , I think.

Try google searching "Folding Grocery Cart"

Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

Check out some of the taller TV or cookware-type carts. I put one together with the shelves installed upside down so that each of the three shelves had a nice 1" rim all the way around, for my husband's hobbyist work.

How heavy duty? They make carts for libraries that will hold up to 2000lbs! (Of course they cost about $600, but that's pretty dang heavy duty!) They call them "book trucks" in the library world - they have ones at various price points that hold anywhere form 500lbs up to the 2000lb 'monster' book truck

jena ;)

Well, you may also consider looking at BagBuddyCarts at http://www.bagbuddycart.com/

They have rather stylish carts.
