What style of house is this?

sarah_belleJanuary 5, 2009

Any help would be appreciated! We're thinking of buying this house and restoring it to its original 1908 beauty.

Would anyone attempt to guess at the style of this house? The front of the house is original, but there have been some additions to the back.

I'm including links to pictures of the front and side of the house. (Sorry, I don't know how to embed the pictures!)

Looking at the Court St side, it's definitely a 4-square. Looking at the Frederick St side tells me that it's had some additions added out back. Great house and good luck with it!

Welcome Mrs. Hill of Montgomery, Alabama, a lovely newlywed!

Nice century home! (Get rid of those "shutters".)

kec01 - Thanks!! I guess the lack of a dormer threw me off. Can a house be a foursquare without a dormer?

worthy - I used to be a Hill, but now I'm a Corallo. Sorry, I forgot to change my last name in my profile! Thanks for the welcome. Would you mind explaining how you got the picture embedded?

Yes, I'll be getting rid of the shutters and the hideous burglar bars!!

I cheated. Moved it to a Photobucket account.

Too bad about the bars. When your home was built, I bet people barely bothered to lock their doors.

Yes, worthy, probably not! She is a beauty, though. I'd love to pretty her up - it's just a matter of being able to sell our 1928 craftsman bungalow in this terrible housing market.

Thanks for your help!
