Oxy propane welding

birdhandlerJune 26, 2006

I have an oxy acetyline set and am looking at changing to oxy propane and would like to know what the implications are. Have loked around the net and found very little

my questions are?

I know propane burns cooler can you still weld steel though?

Do you need a new regulator? a new torch? bigger tips etc

I appereciate any assistance you can give

thanks in advance

Yes, you can use the acet. reg w/ propane. Depending on brand of torch, you'll have to get a propane cutting tip if available. You can weld w/ it,but preheat time will be longer due to lower temp.
Hope this helps,
Mike
