Fisher & Paykel GWL11 Washing Machine - Leaking during wash cycle

ckroetmanDecember 13, 2012

My GWL11 washing machine is 9 years old and has recently started leaking during the main wash cycle. I wanted to see where the leak was occuring so I placed paper towel under the machine. The leak forms a perfect circle on the paper towel, it is so odd.

I removed the paper towel and replaced it, there was no additional leaking during the rest of the cycle (rinse).

The pump was replaced about a year ago. Machine drains fine and is not making any noise. The fan on the pump is dry and the pump looks fine, so I don't think it is the pump.

The hoses appear to be fine as well. I have removed them and checked for any blockage.

Do you think the seal on the drive motor could be leaking?

The SmartDrive motor does not itself have a seal in it, but there is a seal on the tub & bearings where the motor's shaft passes through to the basket & agitator. A leak at this seal will dribble water into the motor where it will drip out of the rotor.
