lighting in kitchen

KelliJohnsonJune 27, 2011

I am wondering if anyone has ever replaced the kitchen lights (flourescent) with something a little more homey???

I've replaced almost all my light fixtures. In fact, I only have one original light left in my house.

Sorry, no pics at the moment. I can tell you I have ceiling fans in all rooms except the bathrooms and the dining area has a hanging light fixture.

I replaced my ugly ceiling fan with a DIY drum shade light, but I like the functionality (if not exactly the appearance) of the kitchen fluorescent lights. Plus, we have vaulted ceilings in the kitchen/living area, and I can't imagine anything except recessed can lights (which I'd rather not bother with) really looking right; at least the fluorescents are unobtrusive. If we had a flat ceiling, though, I'd have replaced the other lights by now.

I'm sure the right type of fixture would look good on a vaulted ceiling, but, it just depends on what looks good to you.

BTW Kelli, I didn't have fluorescents.

We have tried to put a fan in the master but it does not have the support it needs.....LOL

I think as far as teh kitchen goes...there are other flourescent lights that seem more homey...we might try that

I don't know why this popped up to the top again...but I am curious, Kelli, if you were able to make the changes you talked about last summer?
