modulars: finishing the upstairs living space

valkyrie4791February 23, 2011

Hi, we recently purchased a modular home. The entire upstairs portion is unfinished and is rough plumbed for a bath. We will be finishing the upstairs as money permits. I know it varies from place to place, but I'm wondering what kind of neighborhood my thinking needs to be in with regards to expense. It is about 900 sq feet and we will need to put in a bedroom and a bath. I'm assuming we'll need to buy a new ac/heater for the upstairs as I doubt the one working downstairs is big enough. I haven't had a contractor come out yet as we don't take possession until the end of March. Anyone who has gone through this I'd love to hear what your costs were like! Thanks!

i am looking at cape modulars too, the builders say to plan for 20k, but i think it could get done for around 15k if you're smart about it and doing a lot of the work yourself.

What type of home did you get? Who manufactured it??
any tips for me about the process?
