Slightly OT

I used the CREE Home Depot lights in my 6" cans in the kitchen. I had two off 5" cans in a bay window, I could only get HD's Commerical lighting fixtures in them. OK, but not as good as the CREE (Unable to pull the lighting fixture down, no adjustable screw so the CREE would not screw in.) Anyway I like the Crees so much I want to do the rest of the house (another 20 or so lights.)

Since they are so easy to install, I can't see using an electrician however my main obstacle is how to get to those middle of the room ceiling lights (extension ladder won't work.) My ceilings are only about 11 or 12 feet high but bringing the can down means I need to be pretty close. Anybody have any suggestions on what type of ladder would work well? My ladders are hand me down wobbly aluminum and wood, I'm sure to disable myself with these! Looking to buy some a new ladder.

The multi position ladders from HD or Lowes are pretty useful

Here is a link that might be useful: Multi position ladder

A simple a-frame ladder.

11 or 12 foot ceilings might need about an 8 foot ladder (depends n YOUR height).

From experience, an 8 foot step ladder is not tall enough for a 12 foot ceiling. How about renting a decent 10-12 foot step ladder for a day?

Thank you for the replies. The ceilings must be more like 11 feet since I picked up the Little Giant at Costco today, set it up and it looks like it will work fine. My other ladders were just hand me downs and I realized I've almost fallen so this project has prompted me to get a decent ladder.
