Exterior artificial flame lanters

xanderakSeptember 11, 2011

I'm looking for some advice on how to get a good looking artificial flame exterior light. Idea is they look like gas but.

Here is the idea, but this one breaks the bank:

exterior led flame light

I think these would work if they were normal bulb size:

small artificial flame bulbs

Any ideas? Thanks!

The artificial flame bulbs put out minimal light. We used them in a 12- or 15-arm dining=chandelier in a former house -- very romantic, but you couldn't see to cut your steak by them. Strictly for atmosphere, not illumination!

The bulbs are just a slightly larger neon bulb and the discharge moves around on the large electrode.

They are not a good source of illumination.

Until mantles cam along to produce a hot surface, even gas lights did not produce much light.
