where to find lighting?

We are in the design process of building a house and I would like to start picking out light fixtures. Where are good websites to find a variety of fixtures?

There are a TON of them out there...

The one I used to purchase lighting for my house was www.butlerlighting.com. I just happened to find them when they were having a sale on a particular look and style that I liked. Saved %85 on the entire lighting package.

Try Amazon for viewing a lot of fixtures.

also use Google Images.

You'll want to develop a workbook and in the pages
write down keywords which describe using the right
words the kind of lighting that interests you.

Once you have keywords use them with Google images
and you'll begin to see plenty of images of lighting. Then
you can click to go to the site which hosts that image. And
read up on where that light is placed, why it's there and
what about it looks so good.

As you grow with google begin to add words that describe
the feelings or features. Again - keywords - which try to
lead you to the kind of lighting environment that you desire.

Those descriptive words along with the technical words for
the type of lighting - will come from poplle who have the ablity to write for a living. You might find articles on specialty lighting. Handmade lighting.

Consider visint a stained glass shop in a city big enough to
have one that's been around 30 or more years.

also if you want to become expert - study the history of
lighting. Knowing about your lighting styles from the days
of candles and how we moved to gas and then electric can
give you insight to picking the right kiiiiind of effects you

Consider visiting the stage manager at a small theater and
talking about lighting effects.

The journey is what you want not the destination.

I think that's true isn't it?

Don't ever buy something that will be shipped from another country or doesn't have a distributor here. That eliminates many of the cheapest internet sources.
