Kitchen Onyx Pendants

momandallieAugust 20, 2009

I am thinking of placing two onyx pendants (LDL Teardrop) over my kitchen island and one over the sink, but am wondering just how much light I will be able to get from a 50w xenon bulb. Does the onyx block a lot of the radiating light? Will the down beams be enough to light the island (34x51")? I have recessed lights on two sides of the perimeter of the room.

I don't want to learn the hard way - after the fixtures have been bought and installed :)

Thanks for your thoughts.

I think the pendants will provide enough down light for your sink and counter.
Make sure that you mount them with the light bulb at your eye level, or a little highr, for best light output and glare control
