Flourescent light in center of kitchen in addition to recessed?

luvpatch2June 15, 2011

Hi! We had recessed lighting installed in kitchen and now want to add a main light on the ceiling where our OLD Huge flourescent light was. Do we want to stick with a smaller square or round Flourescent or will a semi flush mount fixture with 2 60 watt bulbs be okay. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks

The main question should be whether you have enough illumination now that the old fluorescent light is gone.

If you need more light,
The 2D fluorescent surface mount fixtures don't seem to give off enough light (imo). 2 60W incandescent bulbs in some fixture would be even worse.

If you're willing to experiment, how about using the new CREE CR22 troffer as a semi flush mount?
