2 light fixtures when wired for 1?

lisaslists2000June 6, 2010

I've found a pendant light that I like, but I'd like two of them over my table. Is it possible to do 2 pendants (up to 100 w bulbs in each) in a ceiling wired for one?

Thanks for any assistance!

To be able add to a lighting branch circuit you need to add up the possible wattage of each fixture (fixture, not the light bulbs) and the total needs to come up to 80% or less of the circuit capacity.

If you have accessible attic above the dining room the project shouldn't be too bad. You'll have to patch the hole that will result from moving the centered box. If there is no access then you'll likely have more and bigger holes to patch. There are also fixtures designed to mount on a centered box with multiple pendants hanging from a long canopy or large round canopy.
