ceiling fan/chandelier in atrium above dining table

missantarctica5March 12, 2010

Hi, we are building a home with a central 11 x 11 atrium (about 18' high) in the centre. The dining room table is centered under the atrium. The space cries out for a dramatic chandelier hanging from the centre of the atrium over the table (very long chain), but I also would like to have a ceiling fan at the top to provide air circulation. Is there such thing as a fan from which you can hang a chandelier? Or should I put two small fans on either side of the chandelier mount? Suggestions welcome!

Only one fan is needed and it can be offset.
A fan mounted at 18' would not draw your eye to it,especially if you have a fixture dropped over the table, so I don't think it would upset the symmetry of the room.
