Recessed Lighting Layout

kurjFebruary 13, 2013

Hello everyone! I was wondering if I can get some help on my lighting plan. I want to have recessed lights in the great room, kitchen and upstairs hallway. It seems like a lot of cans but based on measurements, this seems optimal. Would I need to have multiple switches in the great room for these lights? I have laid out a plan. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Probably the center row of lights in the great room can be eliminated. The nook may need more light. The number of switches depends on whether you intend to have some lights in a specific location turned off and others on. With dimmers and LEDs, it is possible to have a large group of lights on one or two circuits and thus reduce the number of switches.
