Help with lighting our new Kitchen - recessed can question.
It's time to figure out recessed lighting for our kitchen. What we've already figured out is the under cabinet lighting (Xenon line-voltage thin strips bought from Pegasus Associates under all cabinets), and in cabinet lighting (2 low voltage xenon pucks in the glass-faced cabinets on a separate switch).
We are looking at 4-6 recessed cans. We would like them to be as invisible as possible, on a dimmer, and are considering 50 watt PAR20s or 50 watt MR16s. I'm aware that the low voltage set up would cost roughly double the line voltage choice and I'm unsure of the payback time. We intend to be in this house for the foreseeable future, so we want to do it right the first time. It's an early 1800's Italinete and we want to keep the character of the house as intact as possible.
Any recommedations on housings, line verus low voltage choices, manufacturer, spacing and quantity? Our kitchen is roughly 12' x 16' and the ceilings are 8'7", free of insulation.
Thanks in advance!
