lighting a rough stone wall

mcguiganFebruary 20, 2011

We are renovating an 11th century house in France with stone walls. I have an expanse of stone wall in the living/great room and wondered the best way to cast some light on it. I will have two candeliers, one in the sitting area and one over the dining room table.

My designer called for so many can lights it was going to look like a gas station on Route 66.

Lucky you! Sounds like a great place to live.

Not sure why you'd want to light up a wall, but how about T5 or T8 electronic fluorescent strips behind a cove? Compared to cans (an abomination, IMO) they'll be cheaper to install and operate, and provide more even light.

Davidtay may have some LED-based suggestions.
