Cree LR6 in Standard Can

yoyomaFebruary 4, 2009

I had a couple of LR6s installed in a standard housing where the person installing them had to replace the incandescent socket with the LED one, and he mentioned that once you do that, it is no longer UL-approved and techinically would not pass inspection. Is this true? Thanks.

In this case it isn't. According to UL, as long as the socket is replaced with a UL certified socket, it's still good.
If you don't have an inspector coming, you're fine.
If so, then there is a letter which CREE has, from UL, stating that it's okay.
