LED lightbulb for sconce - where to buy?

elphaba_gwJanuary 17, 2013

I'm finding T10 LED lightbulbs but they all have the bottom half of the bulb blocked out which means they aren't that pretty when used inside a frosted glass elongated sconce.

Anyone else have this problem and have a solution? so the result looking at the sconce doesn't have the bottom half "grayed out"? Guess I could post a picture. Will try to do that later.

All I can think of is to use one of the increasing number of omnidirectional LED bulbs - they're not the long-and-skinny T10 shape but they will shine light sidewasys and downwards.

Just got an email from 1000Bulbs.com about a new LED bulb- Decorative Torpedo, and its dimmable. Looks nice and its only $10.

Here is a link that might be useful: Link to 1000Bulbs.com

You can find some tubes which is using 3014 or 5630 LEDs inside, they will not have spot on the frosted cover.

Try looking at some of the bulbs listed here. Several didn't look that bad and they are all at 2700k which is similar to a regular incandescent light color.

Avoid the versions made by Archipelago. We have used those with very little success.

They lasted no more than 60 days when used in our dining room chandelier.
