I have a TRANE furnace that at times will need to have the main AC switch turned OFF, then ON to start. Thermostat is OK.
Any ideas? Thanks.
What do you mean by the "main AC switch". Are you talking about the circuit breakers in the electrical panel or something else?
Service toggle switch next to unit.
I assume this switch supplies the 120V power to the furnace. It could be a number of things, but my suspicion it is a control board problem.
Thanks for the response.
I tend to agree with you.
It could be a limit/safety switch setting an indicator on the control board which gets reset on power down! All I know is that the thermostat says HEAT ON and when I cycle the service switch the unit fires up.
The vent blower starts up, the ignitor lights up, the burners light, and the air circulation blower finally comes on. I plan on replacing the ignitor anyway, it is 17 years old.
