American Standard vs. Carrier

robert6011November 16, 2011

I am currently evaluating two proposals for a new HVAC system in my home.

OPTION 1 is American Standard.

OPTION 2 is Carrier.

I would appreciate any advice!

Thank you!

OPTION 1

1st Fl. - will remove existing equipment only, recover freon for EPA reclamation; install Carrier Infinity 18 SEER 2 stage condenser, Carrier Performance variable speed fancoil, 3.5 ton net btu cool.

2nd Fl. - will remove existing system complete (except grills), otherwise same as above but a Carrier Infinity 18 SEER 2 stage condenser 4 ton system; Carrier Performance variable speed fancoil, all new zoning equipment, dampers, 2 stage t-stats,

This proposal includes removing all existing equipment, installing new equipment, transitioning to Puron or enviorn safe freon operating systems; removing 2nd floor ductwork also, 1st floor duct remains. Leak check on existing line sets will be extra; we can determine if better solution is to install new copper line sets at installation, same will be extra. If more supply air vents, return air ducts, or any duct fabrication is needed, same will be extra. If the 1st floor system requires new zone control panel and dampers, same will be extra.

 Total Estimate = $30,650
