Furnace Recall Help
We have a Bryant 340MAV furnace from 2000 for a 1200 sq condo. We have had numerous problems with the unit not actually engaging the heating unit. Last night, the serviceman replaced the pressure switch (again). However, he showed me a fax they received in 1/07 that there was a recall on this unit, because the welds around the heat exchanger corrode, and it won't keep a vacuum. Does anyone know anything about this recall?
Also, the serviceman said that to replace the heat exchange (with a free part from the recall) would cost $1500, and we would be better served to just buy a (more reliable) unit. Does anyone have any experience with this type of furnace? Also, are there any suggestions for replacements?
