New gas furnace and A/C

KDRidgeNovember 17, 2011

I have recently been quoted for a Goodman gas furnace and A/C at approximately $5800 for replacement in a condo - I wanted some feedback on the cost as well as Goodman products. I would be receiving a 10 year warranty. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Thermostat would not be replaced since I replaced four years ago. Furnace and compressor would be replaced.

I was given 56,000 BTU with seer coil 2 ton - 10 yrs parts, 10 yrs labor, 10 year heat exc and 10 year compressor warranties. I have read mixed reviews re: Goodman products - some customers are totally satisfied and others a dissatisfied

Prices are different with each job and different depending on where you live. If you want to know whether or not it is a good price you need to get other estimates.

Goodman equipment is not the worst out there but it is known for cheap price a lot more than for its quality.

Agree with above post. Personally, I would not want or have it.

As a compromise, you might look at similar products from Goodman's sister company Amana generally looked upon as a step up.

Just a thought.

There is plenty of equipment that is on the same level or worse than Goodman and Goodman is not all that cheap anymore either.

My experience lately has been that goodmans price has gone up but quality has stayed the same.... Can you buy one that doesn't have a leaking evap coil in the first 3 years? We made the mistake of putting a bunch them in 3 years ago because the warranty was so good. So far we are about 50/50 on the evaporator coil issue.
