Zoning with Goodman/Amana?

attofaradOctober 6, 2011

What would be good zone and thermostats with the Amana AMVM96-115 or clone Goodman GMVM96-115? 5T 2-stage A/C.

3400 square feet L shaped ranch house, with master bedroom / den zone about 1100 of that, and the rest of the house as the second zone.

Pretty mild climate (San Jose, CA). Pretty leaky construction, which I'm improving but can only do so much.

I want controls that will allow the full burner and blower range. It would be good if I can just be conditioning the master end and still have a reasonable flow (not too high). Design heat loss of that end is maybe 34kBTU/hr.

If I can't get zoning to work well, I may save the initial bucks and have a single zone.
