A/C units in coastal areas

osofrioOctober 3, 2009

I am going to need to replace my A/C unit at my condo on South Padre Island, TX. Which unit would be the best to handle the coastal conditions of the area, especially with the saltwater conditions?

Trane, in my opinion. I think most brands have a saltwater kit where the coils can be coated to help further inhibit corrosion. But I like Trane's aluminum coils for these environments.

Trane or sister company American Standard hold up better in coastal, salt water corrosive environment.

You should look for a condensing unit which has the option of a "Phenolic Coating" on the fins.
