Desiccant wheel for residential dehumidification

ionized_gwOctober 16, 2012

I found this while searching around a little today. It is not clear to me how they calculate the efficiency since heating the wheel is done with electricity, gas or hot water from any source including solar. Their numbers seem nice and high (5.5-5.0) compared to what I found on the Energy Star web site:

Dehumidifiers Key Product Criteria

Equipment Specification

Energy efficiency is measured in liters of water removed per kilowatt-hour of energy consumed.

Ranges from >= 1.20 to >= 1.80 L/kWh for standard capacity units. >= 2.50 L/kWh for high capacity units
