Laundry shut-offs without a hole in the counter?

kawfeeaddictMay 6, 2011

We want to install out front loaders under a counter with cabinetry above however I would prefer not to have a shut valve such as those made by Symmons which requires a hole in the stone, into which things can also fall.

Has anyone had a plumber install faucet like valves in the wall where the hose connections are underneath or is there a slide type valve out there?

Any ideas will be appreciated!

This is what we did. I would have preferred to have them behind (inside) the upper cabinet, but it's ok here and more accessible. You can see them under the upper cabinet, but when the trim moulding goes up it will not show. We are obviously not done but I will have a counter over the W/D and cabinet.

What a beautiful looking room Coastal and I like your solution to the valves! I see a fan in the ceiling, is this in a bathroom? We're turning a full bath into a half bath/laundry room.

One sees the faucets in the walls in Europe but not in the USA. Which brand of machines are you using and is the washer drain standpipe part of the box?

Thanks!

This room is exactly as you describe! It is a full master bath with laundry in our NE beach house as well! The toilet is going in to the left of cabinet. I am not so concerned about sand scratches (because I am in love with carrara) and plan on using marble on vanity, shower wall and laundry counter, kitchenn and backsplash! I have posted lots of pics of this bathroom and other pics of our homes (link below) and in kitchen forum. We are using Electrolux W/D here. Below is the vanity and shower wall opposite the laundry. I have been posting many questions, pics and polls here and everyone is so helpful-ESPECIALLY the folks in kitchens!
