Free pack of Water Kefir Grain(SKG)
started making water kefir drink about two months ago. Because I heard it has natural CO2 and I'd like my kids to switch from store bought soda to this. Although that didn't go very smoothly. I did enjoy making and drinking them. It has many uses; I even put them in my sourdough starter as liquid.
Since they doubled everytime so I have more than enough I can use. I'd like to share with who'd like to give it a try. It will be sent in a little baggie weighing about 15-19g. You can put them in a quart size jar with 1/4 cup brown sugar, filtered water, and wait for 3-5 days(just 1st time cause you need to rehydrate them) in summer, 24-48 hours will finish a new batch.
Email me at bli537@yahoo.com and I"ll give you my mailing address where you can send SASBE to. Enjoy!

Drop already!
Drop WHAT? If you searched my profile. You'll know I gave away seeds before and nothing else. And honestly. People are nice and kind at Seeds exchange forum. And I thought Cooking is the right forum to post Kefir. I guess I was wrong.
I reviewed my message and found maybe the see'''' some store for more info is the one that prompted to you to do this. Well, I got it from a friend. Just want to share. You can go back and discuss more waffle, which by the way, will taste even better and healthier with water kefir drink and sourdough starter in them.

Bianca, I think it is very nice of you to offer, I know I thought about asking, but I don't barely even know what keffir is, much less what I would do with what you send!
Are you willing to give some instructions? I do know keffir is super healthy - grainlady is a big fan of it- but I am clueless.
I know my husband would be thrilled if I started using it.
Hi Blanca - while I am not interested in the offer - I want to thank you for extending it.
I could be wrong but I think perhaps the lack of knowledge on the subject was keeping people from commenting. And sometimes when a thread is on top for a while someone will comment to push it down.
I think with more of an explanation people might be more interested. If nothing else you can educate many here on the topic.
I am not familiar with your name. Welcome to the Cooking Forum!
I can't keep up with the stuff I am growing now. I am avoiding the seed forum, hosta forum and anything gardening related until I have a better grip on the amount of garden I have now! :-)

Well I was interested but didn't post so it would stay on top for others to see. I think most people are slow to post to threads like this for that reason. Thanks for the generous offer.
I'm interested in this, but I had to look up what SASBE meant to discover that "B" stood for "bubble". I also had to do a conversion to find that 15g is about 1/2 ounce. I will have to wait until I get home to send you an email, as I cannot do that from work, and I have not been turning my computer on when I get home lately because I have been spending the daylight hours outside when possible, which make dinner a bit late.
Anyway, thanks for your generous offer! I really want to try it.

Water kefir notes
Probiotics, think of yogurt but not dairy. So it's very good for you like any other fermented type food, sauerkraut, miso, kimchi, etc,
2. Easy to make, won't fail or go bad.
3. Put them in soup, smoothies, etc. helps with pets digestion as well. cause it's sugar water, so anything you want to cook with that calls for liquid and sugar are ok. Experiment.
4. Make a beauty mask out fit
5. Add it with any flavor of juice concentrate, bottle it you got Italian soda!
But the fizz last much longer cause it keep producing it.
Ball quart jar is perfect. 1/4 cup -1/3 cup sugar.
1. Fancy version: mineral water, organic brown sugar, a touch of molasses, with organic lemon slice/ ginger / raisin, etc
2. Daily version, fridge filtered water or tap water sit 24 hours, regular brown sugar, that's it. Cover with a piece of paper towel tight with rubber band
3. When it double, filter the grains out and rinse it with filtered water, repeat process. Put water kefir in a glass bottle, with a screw-on lid, let it sit on the counter for 24 hours, then flavor it ( individual AW plastic bottle root beer is perfect, it's the strongest flavor and the color matched! that's what my husband bring to work everyday) put It keeps a longtime. Next time when you have children over, instead of giving them store bought soda, have them try this instead.
SASBE self addressed stamped bubble envelope or SASE( Self addressed stamped envelope) It's a common lingo in seeds exchange forum. In this case, if it has to go through post office machine, it won't hurt them. Unlike seeds; will be crushed

Blanca, your offer is very generous. I'm sorry it was misinterpreted. I got kefir grains locally from craiglist and I paid
$15 for about 2 tablespoons, so I know how valuable healthy grains can be. I make kefir regularly from milk. I can't honestly say I like the taste of kefir unflavored, but with some added fruit or a touch of honey it makes a good substitute for yogurt, and is supposed to be even healthier.

Nice. I was searching CF for kefir advice since the Kid gave me some milk kefir grains. If the offer is still open, I would love to have some water kefir grains.
I have fermented all kinds of things over the years, but had never played with kefir. It's great stuff. I think I'm ready to expand...thank you for the offer!
Thank you for those who requested the Kefir grain. They are all gone now.
