Taking Water Through Gable Vent
I recently weathered a good Texas storm (60 MPH wind and rain) in my 1 year old two story home. Midway through the storm, water started running down through my lighting and A/C ducts all the way to the first floor. Not sure how much but it seemed like a lot.
The next day we called the company who installed the metal roof because we thought it was leaking. The company sent a guy out and he went through everything thoroughly. His findings were that the storm blew in from the west and it blew through my western facing gable vent. The gable vent is the louvered triangle type and is approximately 4' across the bottom. I have one at both ends of the house.
$1000.00 dollars and 1 week later I had everything professionaly dryed and the blown insulation replaced in the attic.
I contacted the Contractor who built the house but he acts like I am trying to place blame and he will barely speak to me.
So the big question is how do I keep this from happening again?
I appreciate all comments and suggestions!
