Manual J for Addition

JHZR2July 18, 2012

I have been working on Manual J calculations via the excel spreadsheets that are provided by the ACCA (MJ8AE excel speedsheet). Pretty straightforward to do a complete home, my home, with this, though it is a ton of data entry.

My curiosity is that we do not have central air and therefore have different conditioning methods throughout the home. I am trying to specifically calculate the heating load just for one specific area.

Can anyone recommend the best boundary conditions for the wall section that would be shared with the rest of the home? Our home is wood frame construction without insulation in the walls. Some spillover of conditioned air may come from the other spaces to this space, though it is a tortuous path, so Im not sure if I need to reflect that either.

Since the addition is shared with conditioned space, I think the right way to do this is to substract this wall from the exterior wall demensions.
