If you have Stall Mat Under W/D....

tantadoodlesFebruary 8, 2011

For those of you who have installed the stall mat under your washer and dryer - has anyone had to move them-- as in for repair? If so, how much more difficult was this with the mat underneath?

I have stacked f/l w/d in a small closet on the second floor. It vibrates and walks like crazy on the hardwood. We've had to move it out of it's space for another reason (leaky roof but that's another story). Now that it's temporarily out of its spot - I am considering doing what monaw suggested about the floor reinforcement and stall mat. However, this big stacked sucker was hard enough to move out of its spot on hardwood -- would it be pretty impossible to move with the mat underneath?

Any suggestions to make this work? Thanks!

Just install the floor reinforcement and not the mat.

Use at least 3/4 inch plywood cut to fit the entire closet floor, not just where the washer sits. This ensures the forces are spread evenly over a broad area.
