help getting a hole

lindadianeDecember 16, 2007

I am knitting a baby blanket with the border in white and the center in blue. but when i change colors i am getting a hole. I do this with crocheting and don't have a problem.

How can I fix this?

Thank You Linda

Linda, you'll need to be a bit more specific for us to help you. Is the entire blue center done and then you just go around the entire thing with white? Or are you knitting a few stitches in white, the large center in blue, then a few stitches in white again? If that is the case, you need to twist/wrap the blue and white yarns once when you knit the next color in order to avoid a hole, sort of like when you are doing intarsia

Here is a link that might be useful: avoiding a hole

What I do in crocheting is not tie on my new color or skein but just hold it and make a loop and put the hook thru the loop and start crocheting also it is better to start a new skein or color at the end of a row so there will be no hole.
Hope this helps

I'm doing six in white then 100 in blue then six in white again. I'm doing the border as I knit the whole blanket
