Knitting question -HELP!

jannieOctober 25, 2008

I'm trying to make aa afghan. It's made up of 16 squares. I'm on the first square, which I believe includes cables. But I can't read the pattern: The first three rows are various k and P, knit and purl, fine. But Row 4 says:p3,(2/2 RC,p3) eight times. Can someone explain?

Most patterns have an index of what their abbreviations mean...doesn't yours? I did google with "2/2RC, P3" as the subject and found the following site, which should make it clear...(and, you're right...it is a cable)

2/2 RC (2/2 Right Cross) Slip next 2 sts to cable needle and hold at back, k2, then k2 from cable needle.

here's the site URL http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/na_knitting/article/0,,DIY_14141_3502276,00.html

I just had a photocopy of one page from a book. So I didn't have a guide or index for the terms. Thanks so much, Sandra.

I find all the different abbreviations confusing, and I've knitted for years... here's the best site I've run across, and it seems to contain ANY sort of knitting abbreviation you can think of. So, add it to your favorites for your next project.
