Joann's Yarn Tote

rwisniewOctober 30, 2006

Joann's has a yarn tote on sale this week. I never gave it much thought until I saw it, but that would make it so I didn't have such a mess by my chair every evening....

Does it look like something that would work good or has some one had good luck with something else for carrying current projects around? (and keeping them organized) Right now I use a large canvas bag but that doesn't work too great.

That looks like the perfect thing for me. I have my yarn and stuff scattered all over the place, in baskets, boxes, etc. I keep my current project that I'm working on in a basket by my chair though. I wish there was a Joann's close by. The nearest one to me is 250 miles away. The price looks right too!

This may not be what you are asking about since you said "carrying current projects around" but I use an old metal wash tub (my DGM used it for washing her dishes) by my chair to keep my yarn in while I work with it. The tub is fairly large and I usually have two or three balls of yarn and a couple of projects I'm working on in it. The tub works great it's slick enough that the yarn doesn't drag so I can work with a ball sitting in it. For carrying a project around I use a small tote bag with pockets on the inside to keep my scissors and needles in one place. I'm not crazy about the tote bag idea but it works ;0)

Yes, I finally realized that, took a good look at the dimensions. I decided against it. I would like something with compartments and dividers, but I will keep looking....

I bought 2. They are roomy enough for a project such as a large afghan and a skein or two of yarn, and very handy with the wheels. I got 1 at the local Joanns and when I went back to buy a second they said it wasn't on sale any more. I came home and ordered it off the internet site where it was still on sale. I like to pull mine from room to room, something I had not been able to do when the afghan got too big.

Hey! If I understand correctly, returns are free! even the return shipping is paid for right now at joann's! So I think I WILL order it and give it a good look over and try!

I bought a large split wood basket at Michael's on sale after Easter. It was not very Easter Basket looking, just a nice, large basket and no handle. I rubbed it with mineral oil to feed the wood and make it less likely to split, glue gunned fabric on the inside, and it is so cute as a yarn holder at the end of my couch. Since I had the fabric (Candy striped) I only spent a couple of dollars on the discounted basket.

I saw on Annie's Attic, the Krafters Purse. That looks more like what I was thinking would work good.

I could only find the large size to order at Ebay.
