Noise in Fujitsu fan coil

catman_gwMay 11, 2012

I have a Fujitsu Halcyon split heat pump with 2 fan coils. One of them has an annoying hum audible at the registers that doesn't vary with fan speed. The pitch is ~500Hz. Could something be vibrating in the duct just caused by air motion? Or is there a common cause for something like this?

You know the Hz? Might be the motor itself.

Thanks for answering. I took the register off of the duct outlet and it stopped. Something in it was vibrating. The duct seems to resonate and amplify it. It stayed at the same frequency (maybe 500Hz or so) no matter what speed the fan was running at.
