how old is this pattern? [swatch pic]

quirkpodSeptember 4, 2008

Does anyone recognize this? I need the pattern. Each row is cut off at the end, then restarted. Looks like a basket weave using 2 or more colors of yarn. I was told by the person who made me the swatch that the "pattern is very old". But how old is old? I am always searching for 100 to 200 year old patterns.

It's very difficult to determine just when certain patterns came into use. It's something that can drive textile historians absolutely crazy--just about the time they think they've got something pinned down, an older example turns up.

If you will choose the 3rd choice down, (HTML) on photo bucket, when you want to send an image to one of these sites, it will place the actual photo here, rather than just the URL, which necessitates someone going elsewhere to view the pic.
