How do I keep stitches from twisting?

Vickey__MNSeptember 28, 2006

Okay IÂm graduated from Scarves to afghanÂs..or am trying, and I have a question:

IÂm making a baby afghan and I am just knitting every row. ItÂs 7 rows with a size 13 needle, 7 rows with a size 3 needleÂsuppose to look pretty neat!

When I made scarves I knit one row, purled one rowÂI knit continental, and to purl, I taught myself to knit backwardsÂAmerican/English is it called were you throw the yarn? So I donÂt really know how to purl, but it doesnÂt matterÂ.anywayÂ

When I am knitting I notice that I put the needle in I put it in the front (leading edge?)Âbut then the next row, when I put it in the front it causes it to twist, so the leading edge is in the backÂwhy? In order not to make it twist I have to put the needle in the back. Does any of that make sense? IÂm really trying not to twist my yarnÂnot that it will matter, but I am trying.
