Geothermal Gov. rebate questions?

JMphotoApril 18, 2011

Those of you who installed Geo thermal, did you get your rebate?

If so, how long did it take? Did you have to jump through hoops to get it?

Since it is a lot of money and obviously a help with affording the cost of the install, its a deciding factor.

suggest you read the link below. as far as I know, there is no rebate from the federal govt. There is a tax credit on geothermal of 30% of cost-no max. You should check to see if HVAC manufacturer offers a rebate,if your state gov't offers any incentives, and any help from your electric utility. Because of the cost of geo, I would run this by your tax specialist to make certain there are no misunderstandings so you will know exactly what to expect from all quarters and how this affects your taxes.

Thanks for the info. I am glad you gave the info as the one HVAC contractor made it sound like I would get a rebate check!
I will contact my accountant to see how this would play out for my taxes.
