Do whole house fans qualify for tax credit?

PoorOwnerApril 9, 2010

When I google for "whole house fan tax credits" there are some sites that claims it may able to qualify for 30% for tax credits. This seems false.

On IRS form 5695

"Advanced main air circulating fan used in a natural gas, propane, or oil furnace"

Well, whole house fan is not used in a furnace.

Also on the energy star site there are a list of things that are NOT eligible including CFLs, and whole house fan is one of them.

Can anyone confirm? Does anyone know if solar attic fans are eligible for tax credit?

the "circulating fan" they speak of is a high efficient or variable speed fan/blower not a whole house fan. I suggest you check the attached link.

good luck!

Yes, the solar attic fan would qualify.
