looking for an easy crochet baby afghan pattern

carolj79April 24, 2010

I would like to make a baby afghan (crochet). I haven't crocheted in years but want to start up again. I have looked at several patterns but would like a pattern that is:

1. easy (I know how to sc, dc, dc2tg, crochet in a space)

2. something with easy to follow directions

Would anyone be willing to share a pattern with me?

Thanks in advance!

I think the sideway shell afghan from project linus is very easy and goes fast. Another easy one is the pound of love baby blanket it, works up in a weekend for me. Mary

Thanks for the responses. I have started a Lion Brand Easy Baby Ripple Afghan, free pattern on their website. I am having a bit of trouble with the pattern not lying flat but others have made the same comment about this pattern. I have had a few people look at my work, and they said to keep going and it should be fine once it is longer, only about 10 rows done now. My stitches are not tight and match the gauge. Someone said I might want to block it when finished. Anyone else have this type of problem? It is Lion Brand Pattern 80851AD, can see a picture on their website with pattern. Thanks! www.lionhead.com

Have not done that ripple but as it gets longer it will probablly flatten out. Here is an easy ripple pattern if you need one, works up quick too and goof proof. Mary

Here is a link that might be useful: Quickie Ripple

You've already started yours, but I'll post this one anyway. To find the pattern search for "Bubbles Baby Blanket" by Deneen St. Amour.

This one is smallish, good for a car seat or stroller. It's also quite thick since it's done with two strands. I used yellow and white--think it was Vanna White baby yarn.
