Kitchen design review w/ floorplan

billhoranJune 13, 2011

Looking for any feedback on our kitchen design.

The breakfast room at the top is a few steps down, in full view from the kitchen area with a large window. The Family room on the right was used as a dining room, but we're making it a family room instead because we wanted an open layout and the breakfast room is all the table we'll need.

We're knocking out the right hand wall to open up into the family room and allow for a peninsula, with an eating counter with sink, probably large apron-style.

Going with the 36" wolf gas cooktop overlooking the breakfast room, with a very deep counter there. Want to get a built in vent hood liner up above, trying to keep the view unobstructed, so hoping to get a 42" and keep it a bit above 6' level. I realize that's higher than recommended, but really don't want it in the way visually. Going with the Leibherr 36" built-in fridge, Kitchenaid Architect II Wall ovens, and sharp microwave drawer.

What are your thoughts overall? Range/hood placement? Sink on the peninsula? Other thoughts or ideas? Thanks!
