2-zone system with A/C

salibeikMarch 24, 2012

We have a 2-zone system (Carrier Weathermaker) and it works fine with our heater. We just installed an A/C unit and it seems that with that, there is no zoning and all registers blow out almost the same amount of air, regardless of which zone they're in. Why is that? All the control wires are installed properly. Is that because of Leaving Air Temperature (LAT) sensor?

Restriciting the air flow in cooling can cause the evaporator coil to get to cold. This in turn will make the unit sweat inside of the cabinet and mold and corrosion will follow.

Keep in mind that a proper zone system is not intended to keep part of the house cooler than the others. It is deigned to move the cooling as the heat load changes.

Sometimes the return air ducting is not of the proper size for the zone system to operate correctly.
