how do you block your sweaters

barb_roselover_inJanuary 15, 2013

I have a vest that I just finished, but I wondered how all of you block your knitted garments so that they look okay. Do you do that before you put them together and what method do you use to put them together. Thanks for your comments. Barb

Blocking prior to putting sweaters together is easier - you can ensure that the pieces match exactly.

I use the mattress stitch up the sides and on the long seam running down the sleeves.

On the seams at the top of the sweater, along the shoulders, use an invisible horizontal seam. Here's a link:

There is an enormous discussion on Ravelry about blocking. You should join; it's free. The discussion is on the technique board.
